Behavioral analysis of the approach embankment reinforced by soil cement column combined with geogrids

Abstract

The differential settlement at the contiguous area between the road and bridge is a problem that concerns all traffic participants due to its potential to cause discomfort and unsafe traffic conditions. This paper presents a study that analyzes the behavior of an approach embankment reinforced by soil-cement columns and geogrids through numerical analysis using a skin friction pile model, and verified the results with field tests. The research findings can serve as a reference for similar works.
