CHANGES IN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION OF THE CHIL IN LANG BIANG BIOSPHERE RESERVE

  • Hương Nguyễn Thị

Abstract

Agriculture is still the main source of livelihood for ethnic minorities in general and the Chil people in particular. Not only does it play a critical role in maintaining life and preserving customs, traditions as well as culture of ethnic minority groups, it also makes a certain contribution to the socio-economic life of the whole country. In 2015, when Lang Biang was recognized as Biosphere Reserve in Vietnam, the agricultural livelihoods of Chil people also changed due to various objective and subjective reasons. This change not merely affects the Chil community and other ethnic communities residing in the same area, but also exerts a certain impact on the sustainable development goals of Lang Biang Biosphere Reserve. This change is taking place in a positive and integrated way, which is a very interesting issue in terms of science - culture - society.
