EXPORT OF EDUCATIONAL SERVICES IN THE U.S. ECONOMIC GROWTH IN THE PERIOD 2001–2018
Abstract
Between 2001 and 2018, the United States stepped up commercialization of educational services in the form of on-site export. Based on statistics from the Institute of International Education (IIE), Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), US Department of Commerce, Association of International Educators (NAFSA), World Trade Organization (WTO), etc. The article explores the relationship between education and economic growth, how the expansion of educational services export contributed to the US economic growth. From 2001 to 2018, the export of educational services has constantly increased in quantity and profitability, becoming a key US economic sector. In addition to economic benefits, the export of educational services also promotes national innovation and growth, creating a positive image, increasing soft power, thereby contributing back to the development of the US economy. The research results provide data on the export of educational services of some countries and the success stories of the US in this field, thereby suggesting the export policy of Vietnam's educational services.
