Cooperatives are the main form of collective economy - an important economic component, the basis for developing the national economy. From 1975 to 1985, the development of cooperatives in the City faced many difficulties because people were accustomed to free labor. Now they had to go to cooperatives quickly, so it was hard to avoid doubts about the effectiveness of new production methods. However, the leaders and the City people, especially the cooperative members, have made continuous efforts to contribute to the innovation and improve the operation quality of cooperatives in terms of management, administration, materials and goods... to develop and innovate. After the Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (1986), the cooperative system (cooperatives) in Ho Chi Minh City fell into crisis, the risk of bankruptcy because cooperatives have not caught up with the new economic mechanism. In order for cooperatives to restore production, the City Party Committee has proactively had policies to support the initial facilities, legal and line of business direction. Therefore, cooperatives gradually recover and develop in many economic areas of the City. Economy of cooperatives has become an economic component in the economic structure of the City, increasing commodities, types of service for domestic and export. In addition, cooperatives also contribute significantly to creating jobs, increasing incomes and improving people's lives in the City.In the context that Vietnam integrates more and more deeply, the cooperative economy in the City needs strong innovation to adapt and develop.
