INCOME-BASED SOCIAL CLASSES IN THE NORTH CENTRAL AND CENTRAL COASTAL AREAS OF VIET NAM, 1998-2018
Abstract
Using the data sets conducted by the Vietnam National Statistical Office, the paper analyzes the social stratification in the North Central and Central Coastal Areas of Vietnam during the period 1998-2018 in two directions. Firstly, the evolution of social stratification pyramid is examined, and secondly, the inequality between income-based social classes is accounted. Accordingly, the figure of social stratification by income changed positively in the surveyed period. However, the income inequality was very high and remarkedly increasing.
