TRAUMATIZED PEOPLE IN THE COMPOSITIONS OF DO HOANG DIEU

  • Trương Phương Tuyền

Abstract

Because of the characteristics of literature, traumatized people are always the subject of interest to writers. When they portray traumatized people, it can easily cause sympathy for the readers, and the humanistic spirit can easily be awakened. In Do Hoang Dieu's works, there are psychological trauma characters, who try to overcome a fear and a long-term obsession. These are traumatized girls on their journey to find true love, who were traumatized by sexual abuse, and by the backward, old-fashioned Confucianism that has surrounded people from feudal times until today. In addition, when comparing the literary works of the writers Do Hoang Dieu and the writers Kawabata, we can observe the convergence of the two cultures of Vietnam and Japan in the issue of causing human trauma.
