Factors associated with alcohol use in 3 months after discharge in patients with alcoholic cirrhosis with gastrointestinal bleeding
Abstract
A longitudinal descriptive study on 134 alcoholic cirrhosis patients with GI bleeding at the Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary Center - Bach Mai Hospital from August 2020 to August 2021 with the aim of determining the prevalence of alcohol use after 3 months of discharge from the hospital and factors related to alcohol use after discharge, thereby providing recommendations for treatment interventions and advice on prevention of alcohol use after discharge from hospital. The study results showed that the rate of patients still using alcohol after 3 months of discharge was 67.2%. The rate of alcohol use after 3 months has a statistically significant relationship with the age of early initiation of alcohol use before 30 years of age, the duration of alcohol use > 10 years, family history of alcoholics, the number of times of SI 1-3 times, cirrhosis Child-pugh B, C. This group should receive more advice and special attention in counseling about the harmful effects of alcohol and treatment alcohol addiction treatment after discharge from the hospital.
