The effects of cross reinforcement on the ductility of connecting beam in structures of multi-storey house’s double wall

Abstract
Connecting beam is an important part of double wall structure in multi-storey house. This paper investigates the effects of cross reinforcement on the ductility of connecting beam. Research method is numerical structural analysis based on the modified compression field theory. The research results show that the cross reinforcement in connecting beam increases the shear strength of the beam, as well as significantly increases the ductility of the beam. For the specific case, when the cross reinforcement is 1.76%, the ductility of the connecting beam increases approximately 2 times compared to the beam without cross reinforcement.
