Research on the causes of project delays in construction investment in Vietnam

Abstract

The project implementation schedule is an important plan for every construction project, with the purpose of reducing and controlling project delays. With the rapid development of urban areas in big cities, the implementation of construction investment projects is increasing in terms of both quality and quantity. However, the majority of construction projects in general are behind schedule. Finding out the causes will contribute to limiting project delays. This study identifies the causes of delays in the implementation of construction investment projects through a literature review and a survey conducted to identify significant causes. The Delphi method is used to determine the causes of delays in construction investment project implementation in Vietnam. The results of the study show that there are six main groups of factors that cause delays in the implementation of construction investment projects in Vietnam.
