THOMAS MORE'S EDUCATIONAL THOUGHT IN 'UTOPIA'

Abstract: In the context of European society during the Renaissance, still fraught with crises and injustices, Thomas More's work Utopia emerged as a breakthrough, outlining an ideal society with profound humanism. In Utopia, More not only presented his views on the organization of an ideal society but also laid the foundation for progressive educational thought with a vision ahead of its time. This article focuses on examining More's educational thought in several aspects, such as: his pioneering vision of equality in education; the humanistic nature of education; the comprehensive cultivation of talent; and the combination of education with productive labor. From this, the article clarifies the core values that More's educational thought brings to the current educational reform in Vietnam, while also objectively analyzing the limitations present in his educational views to draw lessons suitable for the contemporary educational context.
