Improving the provisions of the 2015 Criminal Procedure Code on ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of the accused who are under 18 years old
Abstract
The 2015 Criminal Procedure Code, amended and supplemented in 2021, has provisions to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of the accused under 18 years old, who need special aflention and protection due to their lack of physical and psychological development. However, these provisions still have certain inadequacies, which need to be further researched and amended in accordance with international legal standards, to befler ensure the legitimate rights and interests of this special group. The article researches the provisions of the current Criminal Procedure Code and related legal normative documents, thereby making a number of proposals to improve the Vietnam’s Criminal Procedure Law on this issue.
