Mechanism for settlement of disputes over the approval of work plans in the form of contracts and disputes over the implementation of contracts on activities conducted in the area under the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea

Abstract

This paper addresses the provisions of United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea for settlement of disputes over the approval of work plans in the form of contracts and disputes over the implementation of contracts on deep seabed mining activities. As a result, it suggested that an administrative review could be established within the International Seabed Authority to fill in the gaps left by the Convention concerning these disputes and to ensure fairness and equality for contractors.
