Purpose of punishment from social perspective

Abstract

Punishment has an important function and role in preventing and fighting crime. To evaluate the effectiveness of the penal system, it is necessary to analyze and clearly define the purpose and impact of punishment from a theoretical perspective. With a social approach, this study analyzes the impact mechanism of punishment on society to control crime and, at the same time, analyzes the mechanism of adjusting this sanction’s consciousness for convicted people.
