Abstract

This article examines value as a fundamental theoretical category in philosophy and the social sciences. It focuses on clarifying the concept, nature, and basic characteristics of value within the relationship between human beings and social life. On that basis, the paper analyzes the constituent elements and principal functions of value, thereby affirming its orienting, regulatory, and evaluative roles in cognition, human behavior, and social organization. At the same time, the study elucidates the formation of value systems, their internal structure, and the hierarchy of values, emphasizing the methodological significance of properly recognizing value priorities in social science research, legal studies, and the orientation toward sustainable social development.
