Abstract
That protecting human rights, including preventing and fighting against torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment contributes to fully developing people in freedom and peace. It is also the orientation and goal of socio-economic development in many nations currently. In 2014, Vietnam ratified the United Nations Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (UNCAT) and our law has had certain compatibility with UNCAT regulations and international standards on torture prevention and fighting in many aspects. However, from the perspective of international human rights law, our legal framework on this matter still has witnessed some gaps. Therefore, it is essential to perfect relevant legal documents on anti-torture in accordance with the provisions of UNCAT as well as other international conventions of the United Nations.
