BIODIVERSITY OF MEDICINAL PLANT RESOURCES OF DAO ETHNIC AT DUONG HONG COMMUNE, BAC ME DISTRICT, HA GIANG PROVINCE
Abstract
In order to contribute to enriching the understanding of medicinal plants and the experience of using medicinal plants of the ethnic minority communities, we investigated the biodiversity and the experience of using medicinal plants of Dao people lives in Duong Hong commune, Bac Me district, Ha Giang province. Results obtained 89 species of medicinal plants belonging to 76 genera, 44 families of 2 higher vascular plants. In which, the most used form of medicinal plants by the Dao ethnic group is herbaceous plant with 25 species. The main habitat of medicinal plants in the study area is in the forest with 47 species. The Dao ethnic people often use the whole tree to make medicine with 42 species. In particular, this study indicates that there are two rare species that need to be preserved according to the Vietnam Red Book (the Plant section), Fallopia multiflora (Thunb.) Haraldson belongs to the Polygonaceae and Tacca subflabellata P. P. Ling & C. T. Ting belongs to the Taccaceae family. The unique experience in using medicinal plants of the Dao is reflected in the naming of medicinal plants. This study shows that the Dao ethnic group st study area has rich experience in using medicinal plants in disease treatment.
