STUDY ON MARCROSCOPY AND MICROSCOPY OF “DINH LANG LA NHUYEN” (POLYSCIAS SP.)
Abstract
In Vietnam, the most popular species in Polyscias genus is P. fruticosa (L.) Harms which used in traditional medicine to treat various diseases. At present, there is a species with deep lobing leaf, that called “Dinh lang la nhuyen” (Polyscias sp.). The leaf blade of this specides is feather-shaped, the margin leaf is lobed close to the veins and often confused with P. fruticosa (L.) Harms). Fresh plants of “Dinh lang la nhuyen” (Polyscias sp.) was collected, analyzed, described macroscopy and micrscopy for identification and differentiation of many species in Polyscias. As a result, “Dinh lang la nhuyen” species has a pinnate leaf, the edge of the leaf blade cut deeply, close to the veins; leaf sheaths, stipules, and leaves has fragrant. Roots, stems and leaves have schizogenous ducts, calcium oxalate crystals. In conclusion, the morphological, anatomical and medicinal powder characteristics of the roots, stems and leaves of “Dinh lang la nhuyen” (Polyscias sp.) help to properly identify this species, and supply as a database for plant diversity.
