FACTORS AFFECTING RESEARCH PARTICIPATION OF STUDENTS AT TAY NGUYEN UNIVERSITY
Abstract
Currently, many studies in Vietnam and abroad have investigated the factors influencing student participation in scientific research. However, no such research has been conducted at Tay Nguyen University. This study employed a survey method with a pre-designed questionnaire based on a 5-point Likert scale, administered to 250 students at the university. Using SPSS 22.0 software, the study identified three key factors affecting student participation in scientific research at Tay Nguyen University, ranked by their level of impact: Research motivation, Student and Lecturer support. Both Research motivation and Student had a positive impact on students’ research participation, while surprisingly, Lecturer support exhibited a negative influence. Furthermore, analysis revealed no significant correlation between students’ research participation and two separate factors: University policy and Facilities. This study aims to equip educational administrators at Tay Nguyen University with a deeper understanding of the key factors influencing students’ participation in scientific research. Such insight will enable the university to develop effective policies and activities to encourage and promote a thriving research culture among its students.
