RESEARCH ON DEVELOPMENT ORIENTATIONS AND SOLUTIONS FOR EXPANDING BEN TRE CITY TO REACH A CLASS I URBAN BY 2030

Abstract

Ben Tre city is in the center of Ben Tre province with a natural area of 70.60 km². The province's population was 146,641 people up to December 31, 2022. Ben Tre city was recognized class II urban area. Orientation to 2030, vision to 2050, the city will be class I urban area. The objective of this research is to establish urban plans to develop and expand Ben Tre city to achieve class I urban area. The article uses data collection and processing methods, field investigation methods, methods of synthesis, analysis, comparison and map method to specify the content of each option. The research results suggest 3 options. Each option provides content, detailed maps and evaluates advantages and limitations. In particular, feasible option is the expansion of the city to the Northwest that has advantages for urban and socio-economic development. This plan connects certain transportation infrastructure with the current city.
