SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF LIVESTOCK SOLID WASTE COLLECTION, TREATMENT AND UTILIZATION FOR CROPS UNDER CIRCULAR AGRICULTURE
Abstract
This study evaluates the scientific basis and practicality of collecting, processing, and reusing organic livestock solid waste for crops in a circular agriculture approach. Publications, international and domestic articles were synthesized according to keywords about solid waste, agriculture, circular economy. Scientifically, organic livestock solid waste has a very high organic and nutrient content, however, the current treatment method has not met environmental and biosafety regulations. Hard-to-degrade organic waste is collected and treated by burning or burying methods. Manure is collected and treated by a biogas system or exchanged for planting purposes. Practically, the state management of livestock solid waste with a circular agriculture approach has started to be implemented at some stages such as recycling waste through composting or worm farming, black soldier flies. The use of livestock solid waste for crops needs to pay attention to the conversion of easily digestible nutrients, limiting infectious, harmful microorganisms.
