CURRENT SITUATION AND SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF COMMUNITY COMMUNICATION FOR PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT INFECTIOUS DISEASES IN CHO DON DISTRICT, BAC KAN PROVINCE

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the current situation, challenges and define measures to improve the effectiveness of One Health and infectious disease communication in Cho Don district, Bac Kan province. The research was conducted from May to September 2024 by interviewing 126 people, including: 36 people from the human and animal health networks from provincial to village levels, and 90 people in 3 representative communes. As a result, inter-sectoral coordination in communication at the grassroots level (commune and village levels) was still very limited. Communication capacity and resources on infectious diseases at the grassroots level were still at the average and below average levels. Community members have limited knowledge about infectious diseases in both animals and humans. Based on the identified challenges, a number of recommendations on policy mechanisms, capacity building, and raising public awareness have been proposed to improve the effectiveness of communication efforts.
