ECONOMIC EFFICIENCY OF HONEY BEEKEEPING MODEL IN CUC PHUONG COMMUNE, NHO QUAN DISTRICT, NINH BINH PROVINCE
Abstract
The study evaluates the current status and economic efficiency of the honey bee farming model in Cuc Phuong commune, a location with favorable natural conditions and strong potential for development in connection with biodiversity conservation. The research methods include the collection of both secondary and primary data, a survey of 49 beekeeping households in three typical villages using questionnaires, and the application of descriptive statistics and comparative analysis to evaluate factors affecting economic efficiency by colony scale. Results show that the number of households and bee colonies has increased over the years, especially in Nga 3 and Sam 2 villages. Honey productivity significantly improved in 2022 after receiving technical support and assistance with product consumption. Large-scale beekeepers achieved the highest productivity and selling prices, averaging 892 liters/year at 250,000 VND/liter, resulting in significantly higher economic efficiency compared to smaller-scale operations. The study affirms that the beekeeping model in Cuc Phuong has great development potential if technical support, market expansion, and effective product consumption linkages are provided. The results contribute to policy orientation and support for farmers in applying sustainable ecological agricultural models.
