Abstract
Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh’s Buddhist prose promotes a lifestyle of harmony, mindfulness, and deep responsibility toward the natural environment, offering a voice that is both humanistic and timely in the context of the current global ecological crisis. This article explores writer Thich Nhat Hanh’s Buddhist prose (through representative works such as “Peace Is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life”, “Anger: Wisdom for Cooling the Flames”, “Planting Seeds: Practicing Mindfulness with Children”, and “No Death, No Fear: Comforting Wisdom for Life”) from an ecological perspective. The article applies an ecocritical approach, theory of poetics and interdisciplinary research method to clarify the ecological concerns in Thich Nhat Hanh’s prose. The study reveals that, with a simple yet profound writing style, Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh conveys ecological consciousness and ecological behavior through the ecological poetics embedded in his works. The findings contribute valuable material for the reading and study of his Buddhist literary works.
