Abstract

Ho Chi Minh’s thought on building three-tiered armed forces is a fundamental content in his military thought, and is the theoretical basis for the Party to form and develop the armed force building policy in revolutionary periods. The period of 1949-1954 was a period of special importance, marking the determination of the Party, headed by President Ho Chi Minh, in leading and directing the formation and development of  three-tiered armed forces, meeting the increasingly high demands of the resistance war against French colonialism. Using historical and logical methods with the support of other methods such as analysis, synthesis, and comparison, this study aims to highlight Ho Chi Minh's thought on building three-tiered armed forces and the Party’s application in leading the building of armed forces in the Viet Bac Inter-zone. The research results confirm the correctness and creativity of the Party in applying Ho Chi Minh's thought to lead the building of the three-tiered armed forces in the Viet Bac Inter-zone. This process contributed to the overall victory of the whole country in the resistance war against French colonialism.
