Abstract

Female students often have anxiety, insecurity and lack of confidence compared to male students, which affects their shooting results on the MBT-03 training machine.  This paper aims to investigate the psychological factors affecting the shooting results of AK rifles on the MBT-03 training machine of female students at Nha Trang University. The population were 103 females of the 65th course in the summer semester of the school year 2023-2024, all of whom underwent AK rifle shooting technique training and were tested to evaluate the shooting results on the MBT-03. Document research methods, qualitative research method (personal interviews) and quantitative methods (online surveys) were utilized in this paper. The findings show that the internal psychological factors affecting the shooting results of female students were concentration, nervousness when shooting, confidence in hitting the target, hand tremor when shooting, and loss of control when encountering problems. The external psychological factors were compliments from lecturers and friends, pressure and stress about shooting results, pressure from being watched by friends and the physical environment (noise, light and time to complete the shooting). Consequently, psychological support measures for female students during the training process were proposed. The research results can be widely applied in teaching national defense and security education at training facilities using the MBT-03 training machine.
