SOME SOLUTIONS TO IMPROVE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT AUTISM FOR PARENTS WHOSE CHILDREN ARE STUDYING AT SOME KINDERGARTENS IN HAI PHONG CITY
Abstract
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability caused by a nervous system disorder. Parents with the right knowledge, early detection and timely intervention can help minimize the impact of the disability and enhance the child's ability to integrate. This study aims to investigate the knowledge of autism of 200 parents with children studying at some preschools in Hai Phong city, thereby proposing some appropriate solutions. The author used a combination of methods including: questionnaire survey combined with in-depth interviews and mathematical statistics. The results showed that 34% of parents had the right knowledge about autism, however, some parents still think that their children are autistic because their parents do not care, because their children are slow to speak and slow to react compared to their peers. Therefore, to improve knowledge about autism for parents, there needs to be synchronous solutions from family, school and society.
