SOUTHERN MATERIAL CULTURE FROM RIVER SPACE TO CUISINE, HOUSING, COSTUME THROUGH THE CASES OF HO BIEU CHANH AND NGUYEN NGOC TU
Abstract
This study aims to clarify the material culture of the South from the space of rivers, cuisine, housing, and costumes through the cases of Ho Bieu Chanh and Nguyen Ngoc Tu. The article applies an interdisciplinary approach, combining literary analysis and cultural studies to clarify the characteristics of the material culture of the South through literature. Research results show that from the space of rivers, cuisine, housing, costumes, when entering literature, the writer has artistically transformed, distilled and elevated into a complex and meaningful symbolic system. They create a material cultural identity, an understanding of the relationship between humans and nature, expressing the spiritual values of the land and people of the South. Through the description, the writer says a lot about the relationship between humans and nature, humans and society and the core spiritual values that have shaped the identity of the land of the South.
