THE ROLE OF VIETNAMESE INTELLECTUALS DURING THE AUGUST REVOLUTION OF 1945
Abstract
The August Revolution of 1945 was a monumental historical event, marking the great victory of the Vietnamese people in their struggle for national independence and ushering in a new era of development. In that victory, the Vietnamese intelligentsia played an especially important role - from disseminating revolutionary ideas, building organizations, and mobilizing the masses to exerting influence in the fields of education, culture, and political theory. This paper clarifies the role and significant contributions of the Vietnamese intelligentsia in the course of the August Revolution of 1945, thereby affirming their position and historical mission in the triumph of the national revolutionary cause. The author employs the historical - logical method, the analytical - synthetic method, and the comparative -contrastive method to elucidate the research problem. The findings indicate that the intelligentsia were not only transmitters of knowledge but also active participants in revolutionary action - serving as a key force within the worker - peasant - intellectual alliance organized and led by the Communist Party. The study’s results hold not only historical value but also contribute to strengthening theoretical and practical awareness of human development strategies in the process of building socialism in Vietnam today.
