Abstract

Digital transformation is an inevitable trend for the publishing sector to enhance competitiveness, expand markets, and contribute to the development of digital higher education in Vietnam. For publishing units within universities and higher education institutions, digital transformation is particularly essential to effectively support education and scientific research. Digital publishing and digital learning resources constitute important tools in the transition toward digital universities. This paper presents initial observations on digital transformation in publishing activities serving education and research at Vietnamese universities, analyzes the current situation, assesses opportunities and challenges, and proposes solutions to promote digital publishing in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the National Digital Transformation Program. The study employs data collection methods, analytical and synthetic research approaches, and expert consultation. The results indicate that, driven by practical demands of digital transformation, digital publishing activities and the development of digital learning resources in Vietnam have experienced significant growth. The parallel advancement of technology and improvements in users’ digital skills have accelerated the expansion of digital learning resources in both quantity and quality, meeting the urgent needs of domestic practice and the process of international integration.
