Abstract

Alongside the international co-operation and development, the foreign students' need of studying Vietnamese is getting increased including a large number of students deriving from neighbouring countries such as Laos, Cambodia, and China. To make the process of absorbing Vietnamese (in which the letter system is completely different from the learners' mother language system) easily and effective, the finding and studying new teaching method is often necessary. Hence, the task of designing and applying games in teaching Vietnamese to Chinese students at School of Foreign Languages, Thai Nguyen University has been conducted for several years and achieved good results. Those games are applied to train dictation, reflect fast when using Vietnamese language, train sentence writing or find information. It is true that designing and applying language games has made the task of teaching and learning more interesting and attractive. Learners are more interested and actively in learning Vietnamese. As a result, their linguistic reception becomes quicker and more effective.
