COPING WITH THE ACUTE STRESS OF PARENTS WITH CHILDREN WHO ARE HOSPITALIZED AT ICU, PEDIATRIC CENTER - THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL IN 2019
Abstract
This paper present a cross-sectional descriptive study, conducted to describe the situation of dealing with acute stress of parents of children being treated in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Pediatric Center - Thai Nguyen National Hospital in 2019. The study was conducted on 68 parents with children in ICU room. Data are provided by pre-prepared questionnaires on the PSS.PICU and Brief COPE scales. The results showed that: The rate of acute stress of parents at the time of treatment at ICU room over 24 hours and not more than 01 week was 95.6% and this number has decreased significantly at that time. then 01 week with 58.8%. The coping with acute stress of parents was moderate with 2.67 ± 0.69 points. In particular, the "Focus on problem" behavior has the highest average score with 2.89 ± 0.7 points. There is a correlation between the gender, educational level of the parents, the sex of the child, the condition of the child after 1 week of treatment with the acute stress coping of parents of the child.
