ENHANCING EXAMINATION SKILLS FOR STUDENTS IN MARXIST – LENINIST PHILOSOPHY OPEN-BOOK-EXAM OF TNU - UNIVERSITY OF COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Abstract
TNU - University of Communication and Information Technology has been applying the form of essay writing exam, allowing students to use materials when doing the Marxist – Leninist Philosophy exam. This article aimed to clarify the requirements of essay writing and propose some measures to help students improve their skills and do well in exams. This article used the combination of the analytical method, logical method, assement method and historical method. The research results show that the Philosophy essay test not only meets the general requirements of a science test, but also meets the specific requirements associated with the subject: logical thinking, creative thinking and social abilities. Statistics on final exams of Marxist-Leninist philosophy of 200 random students in 2019-2020 academic year showed that the percentage of students got mark A, B, C, D and F was 14.5%, 33.4%, 32.9%, 15.1% and 4.1% respectively. Thus, many students’s essays met requirements limited to some extent; even some did not meet requirements, which could have negative impacts on the university’s training quality and students’ psychology when studying the other subjects. Therefore, it is necessary to improve students’ exam-taking skills by further promoting the role of lecturers in supporting students determine the requirements of the test; improve students’ exam review efficiency and exam presentation skills.
