DIFFICULTIES IN PRACTISING ENGLISH SPEAKING SKILL OF STUDENTS OF K15 PHARMACY AT UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY, THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY, AND SOLUTIONS
Abstract
The study was conducted to survey the common difficulties in practicing English speaking skill of students of K15 Pharmacy at Univeristy of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University, on Linguistics, Psychology, Learning environment and Teaching methodology. In the process, some solutions were taken into account and recommended to enhance the quality of students’ English speaking skill. The qualitative and quantitative method were used. Data collected from 160 students of K15 Pharmacy revealed that the difficulties in English speaking skill are mainly the limitation of vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, students’ own psychology, the influence of mother tongue, and the lack of English environment to carry out speaking activities. This study also showed that the lecturers’ teaching methods were of limited influences that barrier students during the time of speaking English. The findings of this study are highly applicable to the process of teaching and learning English speaking skill and provide a more comprehensive view for teachers and students during the teaching and learning process to reach the level expectation.
