AGAINST THE FEUDAL CHURCH OF NATURAL SCIENTISTS IN WESTERN EUROPE (XVI - XVII CENTURIES)

Abstract

One of the most important tasks of studying history is to research the development of science. With the use of historical and logical methods, combined with analytical and synthetic methods, this paper will study deeply on scientists' struggle for the development of world science, including the reasons, process, results, meaning, and experience of western scientists in the XVI-XVII centuries. Their competitions were to protect truth, new scientific hypothesis, and achievements. They argued with the conservative opposition from the Church in subjects of knowledge to present new and scientific methodologies, to protect freedom and to encourage scientific experiment. With their arguments, science obtained many achievements, and new subjects were researched. By results from the Renaissance period, world knowledge was expanded and it created foundation to open a new period: the Enlightenment.
