STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF PLANTING MEDIAS ON THE GROWTH OF T252 TOMATO CULTIVAR IN NURSERY GARDEN

Abstract

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicon Mill) is one of the popular vegetables with high nutritional and economic value. The use of tomatoes in daily meals is beneficial for human health and has been proven by scientists that tomatoes are able to prevent some types of cancer such as rectal cancer, prostate cancer, prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The purpose of this study was to find out the best plant media for the growth parameters of T252 tomato in the nursery stage, suitable for production conditions in green house at Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry in 2020. Results showed that Formula 1 (1/4 rice husk ash + ¼ coconut fiber + ¼ galandal + ¼ pig manure treatment) gave the highest value of germination rate at 10 days after sowing reached 96.05%, the plant height was 6.95 cm, leaf number was 3.5 leaf; root diameter was 2.62 mm and root volume was 3.13 cm3.
