STUDY THE DYNAMICS OF THE D45 STEEL PIPE CUTTER AND IDENTIFY SYSTEM LOSSES TO IMPROVE HYDRAULIC PUMP EFFICIENCY
Abstract
This study calculated the hydraulic cylinder to generate the shear cutting force a D45 steel pipe cutter. The system loss was calculated to select the pump parameters to improve the efficiency of the hydraulic pump engine. The theoretical calculation method was applied to determine the cutting force, cylinder parameters, pressure loss and volume loss and engine power to drive the oil pump and to select oil pump for the system. The experiment was conducted on a fabricated D45 steel pipe cutting machine for cutting steel pipes with a diameter of 45 mm to form various profiles (pipe joints) that are used at motorbike manufacturers such as Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, SYM... The experimental results proved that the study was adequate to the production requirements on appropriately cutting force, accurate cutting profiles, appropriated cutting blade’ travel, and low power consumption.
