MEDICINAL PLANTS SPECIES OF THE TRIBE PORANEAE BELONG CONVOLVULACEAE FAMILY IN VIETNAM

Abstract

In Vietnam, tribe (Poraneae) is currently known as 5 genera Cordisepalum, Dinetus, Porana, Poranopsis, Tridynamia with 9 species. Through the process of collecting samples in the field, studying dry specimens of the tribe Ponaneae in Vietnam and study of the medicinal plant literature. Of these, 5 species have been recorded as used medicinal. In this paper, we providing information on habitat, flowering and fruiting season, type, distribution, examined samples, colour photos and their use value. The medicinal value of these species are benefical effect on some main groups of diseases such as: digestive diseases, respiratory diseases, genital diseases, pain diseases… The parts used of the species are leaves, roots and the whole plant. In addition, there is one species that is grown as ornamental. Most species are used according to folk experience, not yet widely planted and exploited as food sources. While the study of the literature, we found that the species Tridynamia spectabilis has been recorded in Vietnam. However, through field investigation to collect samples, we have not yet obtained specimens of this species. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the distribution area for Tridynamia spectabilis in Vietnam.
