DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS’ DEBATING CAPACITY OF HISTORY TEACHING IN SCHOOLS (CASE STUDY OF SECONDARY SCHOOL IN THAI NGUYEN CITY)

Abstract

Active teaching that develops students' qualities and abilities is essential in  education today. In particular, History is a subject with many advantages to help learners develop debating ability. This study is conducted with the aim of proposing measures to develop debating competence in teaching History in grade 7 at high schools. The article has used educational scientific research methods, collection methods to study the theoretical basis, and propose some measures to develop debate capacity. The results of the assessment of the tests of the two grades 7A1 and 7A2, and the interview process after the test showed a clear difference when teaching and developing students' capacity. The proposed measures contribute to stimulating learning capacity for students in general and debating ability in particular, thereby creating interest in learning, helping them to form to form and develop essential skills that useful in their real life. The results of the study are useful references for history teachers in high schools in the teaching process.
