FORMULATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF CRITICAL THINKING FOR STUDENTS IN THE TEACHING PROCESS THROUGH THE USE OF CHEMICAL EXPERIMENTS

Abstract

It is a very necessary mission for each teacher to teach critical thinking skills as they are helpful for pupils to have a multi-dimensional view about the problem that need to be addressed in their life and learning process. With the critical thinking skills, the pupils actively ask questions and search relevant information to address the problems and then promote their individual’s activeness. In the chemistry-teaching process, chemical experiments act an important and indispensable tool. This article is to clarify a concept of critical thinking and provide a set of chemical experiments to formulate and develop the critical thinking skills for the students. The experimental process was conducted on 163 pupils from Co Do High School of Nghe An province. With the use of theoretical-research, survey and data-processing methods, we affirm that research is highly effective in forming critical thinking for students as well as improving the quality of the teaching process.
