THE NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF CHILDREN WITH COVID-19 AT THE CENTER FOR RESUSCITATION AND TREATMENT OF COVID-19 PATIENTS, THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to assess nutritional status of children with COVID-19 at the Center for Resuscitation and Treatment of COVID-19 Patients, Thai Nguyen National Hospital. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study of 201 children aged 0 to 10 years who were diagnosed with COVID-19 between January and December 2022. Research results show that the average age of children is 38 months. The age group from 0-2 years old accounted for the highest rate of 48.8%. There is an inverse correlation between the classification of disease severity and the age of children with p<0.05, r = - 0.156. The rate of underweight malnutrition is 5%, the rate of overweight/obesity is 13.4%. Thus, the severity of the disease in children is negatively correlated with the age of the child. We need the attention of the government, departments, and close coordination with the media to reduce the rate of malnutrition as well as reduce the rate of overweight/obesity to a lower level.
