DETERMINANTS OF HOUSEHOLD EXPENDITURE ON HIGHER EDUCATION IN CAO LANH CITY, DONG THAP PROVINCE
Abstract
There have been many domestic and foreign studies showing the important role of higher education as well as investment in higher education. Research have mainly focused on the macro scale as a level of the country, area, or land, and the study of education in general. In this study, the author analyzed the factors affecting household expenditure on higher education in the locality of Cao Lanh city, Dong Thap province. Using a sample size of 255 households with university graduates, the data was collected by a combination of email and face-to-face interviews, and then analysed by descriptive statistics and multivariate regression. The results show that there were five factors affecting the expenditure on higher education of households in Cao Lanh city, including gender, age of the household head, extra learning, university location, university degree. The study provides evidence for policy makers of Dong Thap province to come up with solutions to develop human resources for the province.
