CURRENT SITUATION AND SOLUTIONS FOR PROMOTING HI-TECH AGRICULTURE APPLICATION IN PRODUCTION, PRESERVATION AND PROCESSING IN THAI NGUYEN PROVINCE

Abstract

Application of high technology in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector has been becoming an inevitable trend, which would be a breakthrough solution that many countries have pursued, especially for the countries with agriculture-based economy like Vietnam. This research aims to assess the current status of high-tech application in the production, preservation and processing of some main crop products in Thai Nguyen province for policy recommendations. The study was carried out between May-August 2020 through interviews with 50 representatives of the government agencies from the provincial to district levels, and leaders and staff of 4 representative communes. Desktop studies of relevant documents were conducted until the end of 2022. As a result, the application of high technology in production and preservation and processing in Thai Nguyen was rather limited. Additionally, main challenges and shortcomings were analyzed and recommendations were made for promoting the application of hi-tech agricultural production in Thai Nguyen province.
