CHANGING THE PERCEPTIONS OF STEM EDUCATION OF STUDENTS MAJORING IN NATURAL SCIENCE TEACHER EDUCATION BY THE COURSE USING B-LEARNING MODEL

Abstract

The perceptions of STEM education of pre-service teachers play an important role in implementing STEM education at schools in the future. Moreover, Natural Sciences as an integrated subject has many advantages in carrying out STEM education. Therefore, changing the perceptions of STEM education of students majoring in Natural Science Education is essential to train teaching staff to keep up with the general trend of the times. Based on the B-learning model and the perceptions of STEM education, a course is designed to change the perceptions of STEM education of students majoring in Natural Science Education. The tool assesses students’ perceptions of STEM education in three aspects: STEM education, STEM competencies, and difficulties in STEM implementation. The results of pedagogical experiments show that the students have changed their perception of all 3 aspects after the course. Furthermore, the students also gave positive feedback on the quality of the course and presented the needed competencies to prepare to become teachers in the future in the context of changes in education today.
