Abstract

Integrated lesson design is an important competency of primary teacher's to create an engaging lesson plan based on a combination of knowledge and skills from a variety of subjects. The flipped classroom model has many advantages in higher education, especially in the current digital age. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of applying the flipped classroom model in developing the competence in designing integrated lessons for pre-service elementary teachers in teaching Science. 34 third-year prospective elementary teachers at the University of Education, Hue University participated in a 3-week course in the flipped classroom model of the 2021-2022 school year. The article presents the process of organizing a flipped classroom to develop ability to design integrated lessons. Descriptive statistics and quantitative data analysis were performed on SPSS 20.0 software. The research results show that the application of the flipped classroom model has contributed to the development of competency in designing integrated lessons in teaching Science for pre-service Primary teachers. That shows that the flipped classroom model can be applied in higher education to train teachers in Vietnam today.
