SOME THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL ISSUES OF MULTI-DIMENSIONAL ASSESSMENT IN TEACHING

Abstract

Assessment is one of the important activities of the teaching process, playing an important role in orienting, encouraging and ensuring the improvement of education quality. With the current educational trend focusing on the ability of learners to apply creativity to specific situations, or to evaluate knowledge, skills and attitudes in real contexts with the goal of determining whether What ability do learners have, what can they do, not just what they know? To do so, it is necessary to apply comprehensive assessment methods of learners’ capacity and multi-dimensional assessment is one of such methods. This study aims to show the relevant theories and applicability to teaching practice of multidimensional assessment. Document analysis method is used to synthesize information on theoretical and practical issues applied in the world, thereby discussing advantages and disadvantages when applied in assessing learners in Vietnam (including university and high school). The results of this study will help teachers and learners know how to use the multidimensional assessment method in teaching to promote the great effects of this method.
