EVALUATE THE CONDITIONS, ADVANTAGES, AND DISADVANTAGES OF EXPLOITING AND DEVELOPING AGRI-TOURISM IN PHONG DIEN DISTRICT, CAN THO CITY

Abstract

Agricultural tourism has many positive economic, social and environmental impacts. Phong Dien district (Can Tho city) has conditions conducive to agricultural tourism development. However, in recent times, the development of agricultural tourism in the district has been ineffective, lacking coherence, and failing to attract tourists. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the conditions, advantages, and disadvantages of exploiting and developing agri-tourism in Phong Dien district (Can Tho city). The study approached the framework of tourist attraction research. This study utilized methods of synthesizing and analyzing secondary data, conducting in-depth interviews, and making field observations. The results show that Phong Dien district has many conditions for agricultural tourism development. During the process of exploiting and developing agricultural tourism in the district, certain advantages and disadvantages have emerged. The results of this study provide a basis for stakeholders in the development of agricultural tourism in Phong Dien district to formulate strategies and solutions for future development.
