ARTISTIC SPACE IN SHAN SA’ S NOVEL “THE NAKED ZITHER”
Abstract
“The naked zither” by Shan Sa was first introduced to readers in 2010 in France. Up to now, the work has been translated and introduced in many countries around the world, including Vietnam. However, the research on “The naked zither” is really not commensurate with the great values it brings. Explaining the meaning of the novel from the point of studying the narrative art, combining cultural research methods, socio-historical approaches and operations such as statistics, analysis, approving, , this article aims to contribute to clarifying the characteristics of the artistic space in “The naked zither”. The research results reveals Son Tap's masterful talent in discovering and reflecting reality. In this novel, the writer creates three types of space, including the heroic battle space, the leisurely space of the upper class, and the sad, profound music space. Each space has its own symbolic meaning, associated with the character's fate and personality, thereby not only showing readers a realistic picture of China at different historical times but also discreetly convey issues of human significance.
