IMPACT OF FAMILY AS A FACTOR ON THE COHERENT SPEECH DEVELOPMENT OF 5-6 YEAR-OLD PRESCHOOL CHILDREN
Abstract
Language development is a crucial task in early childhood education programs. Within this context, the development of coherent speech is considered the ultimate goal in perfecting a child's language skills. In reality, the language development of children in general, and coherent speech in particular, is influenced by various factors. Among them, the influence from the family cannot be ignored. Therefore, this study aims to determine the extent of the influence of various family-related factors on the development of coherent speech in 5-6-year-old preschool children. The primary method used in the article is quantitative research methodology. Additionally, qualitative research methods are also employed in the process of analysis, evaluation, and commentary. Based on the analysis of the correlation between the level of coherent speech development in 5-6-year-old preschool children and certain family-related factors, the article indicates that parental conversation activities, the level of organization of recreational activities at home, the frequency and content of reading/communication activities organized by parents, the use of information and communication technology at home, as well as the family's economic structure and conditions, positively impact the development of coherent speech in children. The research results can serve as useful suggestions to help teachers and educational institutions improve the overall quality of language education, specifically coherent speech, by coordinating with the families and parents of children.
