FACTORS AFFECTING LOCAL PEOPLE'S PARTICIPATION IN RURAL TOURISM ACTIVITIES - A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
Abstract
Local people's participation is extremely important and determines the sustainable development of rural tourism. This research has synthesized and analyzed 16 published scientific studies helping to answer the question: what are factors affecting local people's participation in rural tourism activities? The answer of this study is extremely important to scientists who are researching this issue as well as localities implementing or planning to implement rural tourism development. Understanding the influencing factors will be an important basis for proposing solutions to increase local people's participation in rural tourism activities. The research has shown factors such as local people's awareness; economic conditions of local people; local people's capacity to serve tourists; economic benefits brought by tourism activities; involvement of local authorities; state's mechanisms and policies; local tourism resources which have a great influence on local people's participation in rural tourism activities.
