SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS OF INTERMEDIATE SCHOOLS AND VOCATIONAL COLLEGES IN THUA THIEN HUE PROVINCE DURING 2018-2022

Abstract

This study analyzes the status of scientific publications from intermediate schools and vocational colleges in Thua Thien Hue during the 2018–2022 period. Data were collected from online scientific databases and the websites of the colleges, then categorized by the number of publications, research fields, whether the publications were domestic or international, and whether they were indexed in WoS/Scopus. The results show that five colleges, out of a total of 15 intermediate schools and vocational colleges, had scientific publications. Among them, Hue Industrial College accounted for more than 68% of the total articles, with international publications exceeding 96%, and over 53% of these were indexed in WoS/Scopus. This institution also led in 12 out of 15 fields with scientific publications, far surpassing the other colleges. Following it were the Transport College of Hue and Thua Thien Hue Pedagogical College, though neither had international publications. Hue Medical College had international publications but with fewer total contributions, while Hue Tourism College had only one co-authored article. This situation raises several questions regarding the orientation and strategy for developing scientific and technological activities at intermediate schools and vocational colleges, as well as for vocational education in Vietnam in general.
